Lasagna

Making lasagna takes time, but it's worth it. The longer you cook the bolognese, the better it gets.

Classic Italian Lasagna with layers of pasta, bolognese sauce, and melted cheese

Ingredients

  • 500g ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 2 celery stalks, diced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 800g canned tomatoes
  • 250ml red wine
  • 250ml beef stock
  • 2 bay leaves
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Lasagna sheets
  • Béchamel sauce
  • Mozzarella cheese
  • Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a large pot and sauté onions, carrots, and celery until soft.
  2. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute.
  3. Add ground beef and cook until browned.
  4. Add tomatoes, wine, stock, and bay leaves.
  5. Simmer for 4 hours, stirring occasionally.
  6. Preheat oven to 180°C.
  7. Layer lasagna sheets, bolognese, béchamel, and cheeses in a baking dish.
  8. Bake for 45 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  9. Let rest for 15 minutes before serving.
